Four Years Of Deviations

___________________________

Deviant since Dec 23, 2004, 8:07 PM

Four years :) I've been here for half the time since deviantART exists. I rock :D
So, for everyone that watch me for less than a year, please let me introduce to you my weird habit: every year, for my dA anniversary, I copy/paste my stats and analyze them. This is probably boring for many of you but I like to keep track of things, to see how it evolves :) So, are you ready? Here we go :)

2006:
NEOkeitaro has 7,641 pageviews total and his 147 deviations were viewed 15,646 times. He watches 114 people, while 72 people watch him.

2007:
NEOkeitaro has 15,531 pageviews total and their 222 deviations were viewed 59,951 times. Neokeitaro watches 154 people, while 114 people watch NEOkeitaro.

2008:
NEOkeitaro has 30,671 pageviews total and their 283 deviations were viewed 139,124 times. Neokeitaro watches 234 people, while 223 people watch NEOkeitaro.

30,671-15,531=+15,140 pageviews this year. (+7,890 for 2007). So I basically did in a year what I did in three, and doubled last year numbers. The reasons are quite obvious: I had two daily deviations, and uploaded my journals. This help quite a lot.

283-222=61 deviations upload this year (75 last year). I upload less and less deviations. There again, several reasons: I become more and more serious, and "serious" here has two meanings. Serious means that I take more time to make my art, but it's somehow better in comparison (I hope so, at least...), and I actually began to study this year, and this is SUCH a time waster. Amazing.

365/61=5,9 I still upload about one deviation a week, which is pretty much what I've always done, since my deviation frequency was 4.8 last year.

139,124-59,951=79,173 views this year (44,305 in 2007). I quite double it again, thanks to my two daily deviations (Steampunk Instruments has over 13,400 views!). What you can't see there is that I also have the least appreciated deviations uploaded this year: some won't have more than 50 views. That's a shame, as those are sometimes the ones I prefer.

79,173/61=1,297 views a dev (590 in 2007). This is where math and stats stop to mean anything. I won't comment this, since this math is irrelevant :)

I watched 80 more people this year, while 42 watched me back. Funny enough, I watched exactly twice as much as last year (40 watches), but get watched exactly as much (42 people watched me last year too). I'd be upset if it wouldn't be for the all 42 thing :D (nerds will get that).

2006:
Overall, his deviations received 2,230 comments and were added to deviants' favourites 340 times, while he commented 4,822 times.

2007:
Overall, their deviations received 3,433 comments and were added to deviants' favourites 1,163 times, while NEOkeitaro commented 6,740 times.

2008:
Overall, their deviations received 4,778 comments and were added to deviants' favourites 3,115 times, while NEOkeitaro commented 9,287 times, making about 6.39 comments per day since NEOkeitaro joined DA.

4,778-3,3433=1,345 comments received this year (1,203 in 2007). This is rather constant. But considering I get more views, the comment per view ratio is decreasing :( Probably because my pieces of art are more aesthetic and less "controversial". Or I just have less spam :D

3,115-1,163=1,952 favourites this year. (823 in 2007). Once again, I had two times more fav this year than I had in the last three. Thank you, collection feature!

6,740-9,287=2,547 comments made this year. (1,918 in 2007) Quite good, right? I've been rather active this year...

2,547/365=7 comments a day this year. (5 in 2007)

So everything is pretty much increasing, which is great and encouraging. But this is not all. I also created a secret account (not for children!) and an anti-theft club that works pretty well so far! 327 views and 24 watchers in less than 4 days!

A few other, non-narcissist things: I wanna thank dragonC, who was my deviant date of the year :D She's been great and made me happy for a long time :)
But I would like also to give a special award to Void-Hamlet-Herself who has been supporting me since February 21, 2006! This is the oldest watch I have that still take a glance at my work. But not only that. Not uploading much deviations, all her works are very personal and only get better with the time. Her journals are as short as her comments are precise and useful, which is all you could ask for. Last but not least, she's been a constant and kind support all those years, and I just wish her all the best :) :happycry:

This is all, my dear friends! I love you all, happy holidays :)

Anti-Theft-Milice is here to help you

___________________________

I just created Anti-Theft-Milice. My art has been stolen, several times, and after reading kkart's news article, I had the idea to create a group that would centralize and organize the effort, the resistance against art theft.

As some of you know, I'm studying law, and am particularly interested about copyright laws and such. While art theft issues are pretty much easily dealt with when both websites are American, it is way more complicated when both websites are from different areas.

Now, I understand that not everybody knows the law, or what to do in such occasions, or maybe they could find it complicated, or scary, think it won't work, etc. But then, thieves win. Criminals win. This CANNOT be accepted.

I will need as much assistance as I could with Anti-Theft-Milice. I speak French and a little bit of English and German, but many Russian and Arabic websites steal art from deviantART, and it would be great to find people that can read and understand as many languages as possible, as well as lawyers or people knowing the law enough to write base mails to provide to the deviants through Anti-Theft-Milice. The deviants will then have a centralized database, which a mail corresponding to every known website with art theft issues. I also count on the increasing number of complaints to force those websites to delete some problematic accounts: after a while, they'll understand it would be easier for them to delete the account rather than dealing with art theft mails everyday. And last but not least, I spoke about it with my common law teacher today, and he brought something I didn't have in mind: we could even ask for compensations. That means money.
I will let you meditate on this :p

Anyway, please join this group, as this concerns everyone of us, and it could be useful to you very soon.

Thank you for your time, everyone, and happy holidays.
